The Jones County Sheriff's Department conducted a safety checkpoint overnight at the intersection of Freedom Road and Norton Road. One of the vehicles that came through the checkpoint had three individuals inside in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. All three were arrested by JCSD deputies and charged. Those arrested are:

 

Kelli King - Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia

 

Jason Scruggs - Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia

 

Shawn Johnson - Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Driving with a Suspended Driver License.

 

Sheriff Joe Berlin notes, "Great job by our deputies interdicting these three individuals at a safety checkpoint who were in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. The drug problem is real and we are working diligently to take illegal drugs off of our streets in Jones County."
