The Jones County Sheriff's Department operates under the leadership of Sheriff Joe Berlin who took office on January 6, 2020. The Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in Jones County. Sheriff Berlin's command staff includes Chief Deputy Mitch Sumrall, Criminal Investigations Division Captain Vince Williams, Patrol Division Captain Scott Sims, and Corrections Division Warden Jennifer Henderson.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department has a combination of law enforcement officers, corrections officers and civilian employees whose mission is to provide for the safety and security of the 68,000 plus residents of Jones County, Mississippi. These dedicated personnel give of themselves to serve and are on the front line each and every day responding to incidents 24 hours a day, 7 days and week and 365 days a year (except during a Leap Year when there are 366 days).
