Drug Bust in Jones County

On February 26, 2019, Jones County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 531Harvest Quarters in the city limits of Laurel in Jones County.  A lengthy surveillance had been taking place at the residence over weeks. During the search, Narcotics Investigators located and recovered three plastic bags containing a total of approximately 300 suspected MDMA (Ecstacy) pills – with a street value of approximately $10,500, a glass jar containing approximately one ounce  of high grade marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia and other items that were alleged drug transactions.

 

Four people were identified as suspects: Brian Barnes; Talis Ulmer, 25 of Laurel; Mark Washington, 53 of Laurel; and Jerome Wyatt, Jr., 48 of Laurel. Ulmer, Washington and Wyatt were transported from the location to the Jones County Adult Detention Center. Washington and Wyatt were charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, each of them were given a $25,000 bond.  Ulmer was charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, he was also given a $25,000 bond. Barnes’ charges are pending grand jury.
