JONES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI – On July 22, 2018, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report from a woman that claimed she and Cory Lyles, 34 of Laurel, had gotten into an argument when she went to his residence to pick up the child they share.  As she was leaving the home, Lyles held a gun to her side as she was holding the child. Lyles was also screaming at her. 


The incident had taken place earlier, but the victim was unable to contact authorities until later in the day. 


A warrant was issued for Lyles’ arrest.  He was taken into custody on August 6, 2018 and charged with Domestic Aggravated Assault.


Lyles’ initial appearance is scheduled for August 7, 2018 at 1:00pm at Jones County Justice Court.
