History continues to be made in Jones County as Jones County Sheriff's Department Deputy Reagan Smith will be the first full-time female deputy assigned to the JCSD Patrol Division in Sheriff Joe Berlin's administration when she reports for duty on Monday.

Sheriff Joe Berlin said in a press release, "We are pleased to announce that Deputy Reagan Smith, who previously has served as a JCSD Victims' Advocate and a Corrections Officer, will begin patrol duties on Monday, April 12th."

He added, "Deputy Smith is a sworn full-time Mississippi law enforcement officer and graduated from the Southern Regional Public Safety Institute at Camp Shelby. She will be a great asset to our Patrol Division C Squad working under the leadership of Sgt. Jared Lindsey."
