Deputy Taletha Winston serves the Jones County Sheriff’s Department as our Victim's Advocate. The role of the Victim's Advocate for the Department is to provide direct services to victims in a caring and compassionate manner. Deputy Winston acts as a liaison between victims, deputies, investigators and community agencies. She also provides information and referrals and assist in completing applications for the Victim’s Compensation Fund through the Attorney General’s Office when needed. Victims are also assisted in the preparation for court hearings, while providing advocacy throughout the proceedings and informed of the status of their individual case. They are educated on the criminal justice system, informed of their rights as a victim and how to obtain protective orders and overall support. Patti Field assists Deputy Winston when she is needed.
